Obituary for Ovie Lee Graddy

Ovie Lee Graddy, 86, of Easton, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Born on December 20, 1939, Ovie was the son of the late Willie Alford. He was the beloved husband of the late Rutha L. Graddy, who preceded him in death in 2021. Ovie and Rutha would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2026.

Ovie attended the Easton Area School District and dedicated many years of his life to being a loving foster father for over 30 years. He worked at Ingersoll Rand and Bethlehem Steel during his career.

Ovie cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, and golfing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a faithful member of Union A.M.E. Church.

He is survived by his three children, Rosalind Marie Graddy, Gregory Lee Graddy, and Lamar Lee Graddy; his foster sons, Robert and John Greene, all of Easton. He was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren: Markeia Scott, Dahran Scott, La’Markus Graddy, Lamir Graddy, Darryl (Dante) Williams, Kyle Graddy, and Branden Graddy; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his mother and wife, Ovie was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Lee Graddy Jr.; a foster son, Maurice Dennis; his brothers, John Henry Holmes Sr., J.C. Alford, James Alford, Emmett Alford Jr., Willie C. Alford; and his sisters, Katie Mae Gainer and Nellie Mae Alford.

Ovie will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generous heart, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those he loved and cared for.

Viewing and services will take place at Union AME Church- Easton on Friday, February 13th, 2026. The viewing will take place from 12 noon-1 pm, and the service will begin at 1 pm.
