In Loving Memory of Mrs. Lee Nell Martin January 16, 1941 – July 21, 2025

Mrs. Lee Nell Martin, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on Monday, July 21st, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Easton, Pennsylvania. She was born on January 16th, 1941, the beloved daughter of the late Sloan Glenn and the late Maggie Lou Robinson. She was raised by the late Lucille Macintosh Glenn after the death of Maggie Lou Robinson at a young age.

Lee Nell was a woman of strength, faith, and unwavering love for God, her family and community.

She received her early education at Academy Heights, Moore County NC. and went on to pursue additional training through various technical programs. Once she migrated to Philadelphia she landed a job with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County as a Case Worker where she spent her career for over 30 years before her retirement. During her tenure, she cultivated many close friendships, she was responsible, dedicated and would fight for the rights of her clients. She was a member of Philadelphia, Tioga District Mass Choir.

She was loved and known for her kindness, always willing to help those in need, compassionate, encouraging demonstrating leadership among family, church and friends.

During the 1960’s, she united in holy matrimony with Erskine Harry Martin out of that union came Bridgette Speights-Grizzle, Easton PA, Erskine Martin Jr, Las Vegas Nevada (Deceased), Bryan Martin, Taylor Town NC and Tracy Martin, Allentown PA. She became a widow during her marriage to James Dillard. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was the joy of her life.

She enjoyed taking discipleship classes and serving on the help’s ministry at St. James Baptist church, Beverly NJ. She was an activist for women’s and civil rights and attended Martin Luther King’s 1963 March in Washington. While living in Pinehurst NC was a faithful member of Spaulding Chapel AME Zion Church, where she served where help was needed.

She was preceded in death her late husband, James Dillard, son Erskine Martin, siblings Johnnie Glenn and Mary Lee Headen.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Children, Bridgette Grizzle, Bryan Martin, Tracy Martin, Grandchildren Mikayla Simpson, Charles Speights, Bryant Martin, Evander Martin, Latasha Grines, Felicia Martin, TJ Martin, Corbin Martin, Shavontae Martin and Jayden Martin. A host of Great grandchildren (15) and friends.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in all who were blessed to know her. She now resides with her Heavenly Father.
