Elizabeth Beatrice D. Allen, affectionately known as Liz, Ms. A, Mom, Ms. Liz, and Grandma, entered eternal rest on April 24, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Elizabeth’s life became a true journey of faith, family, and service. She peacefully transitioned at Abington Manor at Morgan Hill Senior Living and Memory Care in Easton, PA.
Elizabeth was the beloved daughter of the late Esley Davis and Gertrude Mackey-Davis. She was united in marriage to Clarence C. Allen (“CC”) on April 3, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan. Clarence proudly served in the U.S. Army, and during the early years of their marriage, Elizabeth embraced military life as they raised their family while traveling and living abroad, including time in Korea and Germany. They eventually settled in Miami, Florida, where they planted deep roots and built their home and community.
Later in life—following her dementia diagnosis—Elizabeth relocated to the Lehigh Valley area (Bethlehem/Easton), Pennsylvania, where she received support and care surrounded by family. For nearly 20 years, Elizabeth lived with the effects of dementia/alzheimer’s; through every season, she remained deeply loved, and she will never be forgotten.
A woman of strong faith, Elizabeth faithfully served at Glendale Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, and leader for youth mission groups Girls in Action (GAs) and Acteens. She retired from BellSouth in 1991, after a dedicated career in telecommunications. A proud union employee, she was affiliated with CWA (Communications Workers of America) and remained active through organizations such as the Pioneers. Elizabeth also continued serving her community as an election poll volunteer for many years and through her involvement with the Lehigh Valley Adult Services (LVAS) advisory board. She supported causes close to her heart, including Florida Baptist Children and the Alzheimer’s Association.
Elizabeth had a passion for sewing, crocheting, and learning new crafts, and loved teaching others the handicraft. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping others, especially children and those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence C. Allen; her parents; and her children, Clarence C. Allen Jr., Frances Allen, Forrest (Stevie) Allen, Cheryl Batchelor and Jennifer Hunter.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children William 'Bill' Allen (Olivia) and Victoria 'Vikki' Allen Edwards (Charles 'Chuck'); along with Curtis Batchelor, Valerie Geddis, and John Hunter; grandchildren Pamela Batchelor, Tina Batchelor, Kailik Hunter, Isaiah Allen, Ahmad Hunter (Kesha), Montres Allen (Stanley), Ariel Allen Woodson (Kelvin), and Kendall Edwards (Rima); great-grandchildren Deshante Allen, Ianda Allen, Infiniti Allen, Xavier Cabbil-Allen, Chris Allen, Dymond West, Joseph (Joey) Hunter, Kaitlin Hunter, Dwayne (DW) West Jr., Jalen Parham, Richard Allen, Niani Allen, Nkosi Allen, and Karter Woodson; great-great-grandchild Breeze Swain; her goddaughter Stephanie L. Coats; a host of relatives and friends; along with her cherished pet-companion, Zeke Darkman Edwards.
