Durwin V. Clark

January 19, 1969 — November 28, 2025

Durwin Vendell Clark, the cherished son of the late Richard Vendell Clark and Marguerite (Kennedy) Clark, was born on January 19, 1969, in Orange, New Jersey. On November 28, 2025, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Durwin took the Master’s hand and entered eternal rest.

Durwin was a humble, gentle giant whose kindness and strength touched all who knew him. Affectionately known as “Doe,” he was a devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, loyal friend, and respected colleague. His life was a testament to love, faith, and service.

He began his education at Citadel of Hope School in Orange, NJ, and graduated from Irvington High School in 1987. He continued his studies at Kean University. In 1992, Durwin married Lacretia Tarver, and together they were blessed with two children—Brielle Lanae and Devohn Vendell—his pride and joy.

Durwin worked for FedEx in Newark, NJ, for 12 years before beginning a distinguished career as a Correctional Police Officer with the Essex County Department of Corrections. He faithfully served for 25 years before retiring in August 2024. Known for his wisdom and guidance, Durwin mentored recruits and inspired colleagues with his integrity and dedication.

A man of deep faith, Durwin loved the Lord and praised God daily for victories over life’s challenges. He will be remembered for his radiant smile, generous spirit, humble nature, and down-to-earth demeanor. He enjoyed fashion, basketball, his NY Giants, and music. He embodied the strength and character of a true “Man’s Man.”

Durwin leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted life partner, Celeste Paige; his daughter, Brielle; his son, Devohn (Tenaijah) of Pennsylvania; his mother, Marguerite Clark of South Carolina; his brothers, Damon Clark (Terese) and Desmond Clark of New Jersey; four beloved grandsons, Carter, Kai, Ace, and Dallas of Pennsylvania; aunts Adenia Patrick, Janice Clark, Hilda Lasane, and Paula Thompson of North Carolina; uncle Jeffery Sparrow of New Jersey; niece Laila Clark; nephews Dayshon and Damon (DJ) of New Jersey; and a host of loving relatives and treasured friends.

Durwin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Deliah Clark; his grandmother, Helen Sparrow; his father, Richard V. Clark; and his niece, Latrice Vining.

Durwin was a devoted son, brother, father, and grandfather who cherished his family deeply. His legacy of love, faith, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
