Carlton L. Ketchen

Mr. Carlton Lannier Ketchen was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on November 9, 1960 to the late Eugene Alexander Ketchen, Sr. and the late Frances Hackett Ketchen. On the morning of June 19, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. Carlton was the youngest of five children; his two sisters preceded him in death. Some family and friends affectionately called him “Sweety Baby.”

Carlton graduated from Easton Area High School in 1978. He was a stellar football player for the Easton Red Rovers his entire high school career, having started playing football during his time in junior high school. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1986 with an A.B. Business/Economics degree.

Prior to his health challenges, Carlton worked as the Special Assistant to the Mayor of Easton, Pennsylvania, Mr. Sal Panto. Before this, he took early retirement from the state of Pennsylvania (State Dept. of Auditor General) and was a substitute teacher at Easton Area High School.

Carlton gave his life and heart to the Lord as a young man at Shiloh Baptist Church in Easton, Pennsylvania. His eternity is secure in His Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Central PA Lafayette College Alumni and past president of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Carlton enjoyed traveling, playing golf, attending football games at the University of Pittsburgh, and supporting Philadelphia sports teams (Eagles, 76ers, Phillies).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Frances Ketchen, two sisters: Gwendolyn Harris and Janie Miles, a brother-in-law: Raymond Miles and other relatives and friends.

There are many left to mourn and recall memories of his life, laughter and love including his two brothers Eugene Ketchen, Jr. (Cindy) of Gilroy, California; Kevin Ketchen of Allentown, Pennsylvania; ex-wife and friend Valerie Corbin Ketchen; sister-in-law Loretta Ketchen; nephews Zaid Ketchen, Joshua Miles, Travis Ketchen, and Alexander Ketchen; nieces LaDina Miles and Tiffani Ketchen; great niece Kallyse Douglas; great nephew Kamdynn Douglas and other relatives and friends.

The family extends its deepest gratitude for every prayer, call, check in and expression of sympathy during this difficult time. Special thanks to all who visited him while he was at the Easton Skilled Nursing facility.

Homegoing services will take place on Friday June 26th, 2026 at the Greater Shiloh Church. The viewing will take place from 11 am to 12 noon, and the service will immediately follow.
