Betty Jane “B.J.” Klikus, 94, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025. A beloved wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and quiet strength.
Born on February 2, 1931 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, B.J. graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1949. She made her home in North Plainfield, New Jersey for most of her life, where she built deep roots, lasting friendships, and an enduring legacy of service.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia; her parents, Beatrice and Leonard Curtis; and her four brothers, Leonard, Jack, Bob, and Donald.
B.J. is survived by her devoted husband, Frank “Midge” Klikus; her loving grandson, Weston Zelenz, his wife Laurin, and their son Enzo, who brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
A woman of faith and community, B.J. was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, where she also served as a deacon. She was an involved member of the Senior Citizens group and volunteered at Norwood Nursing Home, always offering her time, compassion, and warmth to others.
B.J. had many passions—she was a fantastic cook, an avid bridge player, and a voracious reader. Professionally, she worked for many years as a legal secretary and later with AT&T, where her dedication and skill were well respected.
Her family and friends will remember her for her grace, humor, and unwavering love. She will be deeply and forever missed.
Services at United Presbyterian Church will be announced shortly. Entombment will follow services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watchung NJ.
