Amelia Heather Belle, lovingly known as “Cos,” was born on November 3, 1952, in St. Michael's, Barbados. She brought warmth and joy to everyone she met and passed away at her daughters home on May 9, 2025, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of her family.
A woman of faith, Amelia was of the Methodist faith, which was a guiding light throughout her life. She faced her rare disease, tumor-induced osteomalacia, with extraordinary optimism, always believing that she would overcome the challenges it brought.
Amelia’s passion for life was evident in everything she did. Whether it was exercising diligently, embracing her talents as an amazing cook and baker, or traveling to the U.S. to visit her cherished grandchildren, her spirit never wavered. Every venture, every meal shared with loved ones, and every joyous moment spent with family exemplified her zest for life.
Amelia leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, Watts Belle, who stood by her side unwaveringly through all of life’s trials. Her legacy continues with her daughter Lisa Belle-Durant (husband Tariff); and son Ryan Belle (wife Donna), each who treasured every moment with her, and with her grandchildren: Raquan, Raquia, Kenya, Tanaya, Taejun, Deja, and Brandon. They brought immense joy to Amelia's life, and she adored the time spent nurturing and supporting them.
While she rejoiced in the company of her immediate family, Amelia also held a special place in her heart for her many siblings who enriched her life with affection and closeness, creating memories that will forever be cherished. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother Hazel, her aunts Cecilia and Loletta, and Ordean Atkins who all aided in raising her. She also was joined in glory by her cousin( more like a brother) Richard Blades who died on the same day, hours later.
Though Amelia has departed from this world, her spirit and love remain imprinted in the hearts of those she touched. She will always be remembered for her unyielding strength, her generosity of spirit, and the boundless love she gave to those around her.
A private viewing with family will take place at Vanderburg Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., followed by cremation.
